The Reflections program provides access to and recognition in the arts.
Explore the arts and express yourself - applications now open!
National PTA has a long-standing commitment to arts education. Over 300,000 students in pre-K through Grade 12 participate each year in Reflections by creating original works of art based on a student-created theme.
Eligible students may enter any or all of the six art categories. Multiple entries within a single arts category are permitted. Each entry must be the original work of one student and created specifically for the Reflections program based on the national theme. Each entry must also conform to the guidelines developed by National PTA (See "Review Rules" link below for more).
Students participate in the appropriate division for their grade at the local, council, state, and national levels.
The Accessible Arts division offers modified rules and guidelines for students with disabilities, who may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504, to participate in the Reflections program.
The student or at least 1 person from the primary household must be a current member of IHS PTSA by Nov 12.
Review the rules from Texas PTA before you begin to ensure your entry will meet the state PTA requirements for each category.
Express your own unique interpretation and perspective of the theme through your art. Need inspiration? Check out prior year entries at the link above.
Submit Visual Arts and Literature entries at the Library Drop Off Box with entry form. Submit Music, Dance, and Film to our Arts in Education chair via email with entry form. (artsineducation@ihsptsa.org)
Step 6: Attend Showcase
FISD Council of PTAs will host a Reflections Arts Showcase. All entries that advanced from the campus to council/district level will be included. Event is open to the public.
Visit the TX PTA website for a look at last year's winners. This information will update in March with the announcement of 2024-2025 entries that will advance to National PTA.
For questions, resources, and more, please contact our IHS PTSA Arts in Education Chair at artsineducation@ihsptsa.org
Entries are first evaluated at the IHS campus level. Judges selected by the IHS PTSA will evaluate each entry within its category and division based on how well the student uses their artistic vision to portray the theme. Originality and creativity will also be considered. All judging is "blind", with all identifying information about the student hidden from judges to remove potential bias.
Judges at the campus level will select entries, based on scoring, to advance to the Frisco ISD Council of PTAs. The Council accepts entries from all PTAs in the district. Following a similar process, Council judges will determine which pieces from the district will advance to Texas PTA (state level).
Texas PTA will judge entries from across the state based on category and division. State award results will be posted on the Texas PTA website in March. Top entries will then advance to the National PTA.
National award recipients are notified via email by National PTA in May.
Each PTA in its sole discretion will select finalists for exhibition and provide awards. Under no condition may parents or students contact the judges at any level to dispute the status of any entry.
