Join the IHS PTSA!
IHS PTSA membership opens the door to significant scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors
As an IHS PTSA student member, you are eligible to apply for multiple scholarship opportunities offered by these organizations:
IHS PTSA: $500
Texas PTA: $1000
FISD Council of PTAs: $1000
The IHS PTSA will award one $500 scholarship that can be applied toward continuing education, including college and trade school.
Eligible students must be a member of IHS PTSA by December 19, 2025; have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5; and 25 high school volunteer service hours.
The recipient will be selected by the Frisco Education Foundation (FEF) scholarship committee. Selection through the FEF removes conflicts of interest, as no members of the PTSA board are involved in the selection process.
To apply, please complete the FEF scholarship application. The application will open December 2 and close at 4:00pm on December 19. The application link is now available.
FISD Council of PTAs offers 2 $500 scholarships to eligible seniors from Independence HS who are PTSA members:

Q: Do I need to be a PTSA member if I am applying for a Texas PTA faculty scholarship?
A: Yes, Texas PTA requires that you are a PTSA member of the campus at which you work to be eligible for a faculty scholarship. You must be a member by December 1.
Q: Do I need to be a PTSA student member for all 4 years of high school?
A: While membership is only required in senior year, having multiple years of membership can be helpful in building your experiences and connections to PTA and can be shared in your application essay(s). Date requirements vary by scholarship. Join by December 1 to ensure you are eligible for all student scholarships listed.
Q: My parent(s) is a member of the IHS PTSA. Does this fulfill my requirement of membership?
A: A parent membership does not substitute for a student membership for any of the listed scholarships. We are grateful for every membership, and encourage both students and parents to join the PTSA - every member is another voice advocating for public education at the state level. Additionally, funds raised from memberships go towards things like senior scholarships, advocacy, and programs. We require student scholarship recipients to be PTSA members, as the goal of the program is to encourage student engagement in the PTSA and surrounding community.
Q: Are there other benefits to IHS PTSA membership, beyond the scholarship?
A: Yes, there are many additional benefits! Upon joining IHS PTSA, you become eligible to start earning points towards your IHS PTSA graduation cord. Only IHS PTSA members can earn this cord to wear at graduation and be listed as a recipient in the graduation program! Visit our Graduation Cord page to learn more!
Additionally, with your IHS PTSA membership comes automatic membership in both Texas PTA and National PTA. Membership in those organizations provides many benefits - visit the Texas PTA and National PTA websites to learn about business discounts and more!
